What is "WantsThis"?
WantsThis is a wish list that allows you to add items from all over the internet and share that list with your friends and family. See the feature list of everything WantsThis can do for you.
How do I create a list?
Creating a list is easy. Simply paste the link to an item you want into the large box on the top of every page and WantsThis does the rest automatically!
Do I need an account?
You can start creating a list without creating an account. You only need an account if you want to create a custom name and profile for it.
How do I save my list?
After adding an item to your list, you'll be prompted to save the list by choosing a unique name for it. You can do this at the make a wish list page.
Why does my wish list have a strange name?
This is a temporary name generated for you when you first create a list. To create a custom name for your list (like http://peter.wantsthis.com), use the make a wish list page.
How do I edit items on my list?
Move your pointer over the item you want to edit. Controls to edit/delete/move should appear for that item. If you do not see the controls, please make sure javascript is enabled in your browser.
Can I mark things on others users lists as purchased?
Yes. You can mark items on another users list when both you and that user have added each other to your following list.
How do I follow another user?
Simply visit any other WantsThis users page while logged in and next to their name there is a button to start following them.
What are the "price comparison" boxes on some items?
The WantsThis server attempts to search the internet for the best prices of items on your list and display them to you.
How do I remove the "price comparison" links?
Move your mouse over the price comparison link you would like to remove. A delete button should appear. Click it to remove the link. If the delete button doesn't appear, make sure javascript is enabled on your browser.
Someone bought something from my wish list and its still on my list?
WantThis is an easy way to create and share a list from multiple places on the internet, because we don't handle the actual purchasing and shipping of items, we have no way of knowing when they are purchased. Once you receive an item from your list, you can easily remove it or mark it as purchased.
How do I hide my birth date?
Showing your birthday on your profile is optional. It can help your friends remember when to buy you something, but if you prefer to keep it private, you can. Go to settings and set your month and date to the blank values.
How do I print my list?
WantsThis can neatly format your list for the printer (and your uncle Eddie who doesn't have a computer). Go to your list and click "share my list." Then click "print" in the menu that appears. Your computer's print dialog should appear and you can take it from there.
